Please Help Me……

Love Guatemala has a heart for the forgotten and

there seems to be so much of that in Guatemala.

From the government to charity organizations they give and then run…

In the governments case it seems to be only when an election is coming,

which is happening now in September, 2011

we had spoken to the director of the school in Chimixiya and asked

him if there were families that needed help….he researched and found 8 families

with new houses built by an organization(after Hurricane Agatha, May 2010) but no food……

We spent a day visiting them…brought them food…hugged lots

laughed with the kids and prayed for wisdom….

Here are their stories…..

…Fermina is the mom and she has 8 children…..she is in desperate

need of a new stove….

…Meet Demetria…her family of 7 children and her husband lost everything

to Hurricane Agatha…..they have been given a house where they sleep in

but the rest of the conditions are not so great….

..this path of destruction was not here prior to the Hurricane in May…

…a world vision Canada house…only bedrooms….

..the inside…she was very grateful for a house that kept them dry at night….

She grabbed Judy’s arm and kept repeating…”please help me”

…the lady in the middle is Margarite, the mom,

the gal on the right is her daughter-in-law…

there are a total of  9 living in the house…..

…making us Atol and some tortillas….

..Maria lives with her husband and 3 other family members…

..Pilar lives with her husband and two children…

…Pilar’s daughter, Floridal….

..Antonio is giving Francisco the names of his children…

He lives on the same yard as his 7 children….

..this is Felipa, she only speaks Kaqchikel….a mother of 8…Sherly is the youngest

…the two oldest girls stopped school after grade 6…no money…

we need to get them back into class….

…this was given to the family and several others as a temporary shelter…

it is foil insulated and very warm…they sleep in it…but someone did not

check on the location as when it rains, the water and mud come into the shelter….

…meet Maria, she lives with her daughter and granddaughter…

…this was taken with a flash as the room was so dark with smoke…

Maria needs a new stove that is vented…..

..these two sweethearts came to see why we were in the village…

…like the way they are holding hands….

Friends forever!

…enjoying some watermelon on a hot day…

..sometimes we don’t know what we will find around the next curve…

obviously he was not waiting for a bus!

******************

We want to thank Francisco, the director of the school,

for showing us and introducing us to a few families in need in his school

district…bless you Francisco for the work you do at the school…..
