Manos de Leones…..The Hands of the Lions

Through a friend we were asked to visit a small village (Manos de Leones) in Jocotenango.

A village that is lost and forgotten…..

He said it was very poor and most of the people who lived there, had been there for twenty plus years.

The land is owned by the municipatlity of Jocotenango.

So with a large pot of Gleaners soup, rice and pure water we made our way up on a very rocky road.

They have no electricity and live adjacent to one of the richest coffee plantations in Guatemala…

Filadephia…..

And this is what we found….

..the kids have no place to play but in the dirt….

hence….very few look clean and tidy….but they are all happy!

..when we started serving soup….the kids were right there

enjoying every drop…..

..this little man had 3 cups of soup….

…Manuel and Cristina shared why we were there….

we just wanted to bless them and let them know that Christ loves them!

…surprise…we have bags of food for each family…

they were so grateful…..

..these two older ladies needed to walk 4 kms to get back home….

…this little one needs Jesus, dirt and all….

…enjoying pure water in a bag…

  1. This is what is meant by ‘the uttermost parts of the earth’. May God continue to bless your efforts to show His love to these lovely people.
