Little Cars= Travel the World

A group of grandparents in Lynden, WA provide Gleaners with

little wooden cars that they make…

Gleaners gave us three sacks full and LG is having fun handing them out….

Even grown ups ask for them…you are never too old to have your very own car!

We travelled to Chimixiya to deliver soup, rice and of course, cars!

…the moms received their bags of groceries, put them in their shawls and

walked home….so grateful…

..Philip and one of our special moms, Lucia…

2013 Love Guatemala Feb 5 045

…that is 40lbs of food on their head..

and some of them had a distance to walk….

…on the way out we met this family who asked if they too could have a car…

and then we met this gal, 75 years old carrying wood…could we help her…

where do you live????  “over there”…over where???

2013 Love Guatemala Feb 5 048

…Douglas carried her wood and we found her house….

…she was so thankful for the blanket and groceries that we left….

we now have another home to visit in Chimixiya….

2013 Love Guatemala Feb 5 059

…we had spoken to the women from Chimixiya about the handcrafts that they made…

could they sew?  only one…would they like to learn…”YES”…

then one of them told us about this school…it is an 45 minutes away but they

would love to learn…so we stopped in…

It is a teaching center for women and when they are done,

they help them start a business…

just what we were looking for!

2013 Love Guatemala Feb 5 054

…beautiful complex…

2013 Love Guatemala Feb 5 055

…they learn how to sew….

if you don’t have electricity, this is what you use…

2013 Love Guatemala Feb 5 057

…bake…

they weave, make traditional clothing, bags, etc…

so now in March we will return and find out the names of those interested….

…Sometimes

the strongest women are the ones who

love beyond our faults,

cry behind closed doors

and fight battles that no one knows about!
